Dorper Sheep Sales

Sheep Shelter Belts

In each paddock we try to provide the dorper ewes with a shelter belt of trees, where the dorper sheep can find shade, shelter from the wind, and rub against low branches when they are shedding. On one property we have a type of cypress pine that has low branches and only grows to about 4-5 metres. Some pines grow into huge trees that suck the soil dry for 50 metres around them.

Cypress pine is a squat, dense tree that provides excellent shelter to our white dorper sheep and their lambs - summer and winter.

When our dorper ewes lamb are in winter it is very important that they find good shelter for their baby lambs.

These pine trees have low banches close to the ground which our dorper sheep love to rub against - when shedding their wool.
